چکیده

The double differential multiplicities and rapidity distributions for Λ hyperon production in central Au + Au interactions at AGS in the range of rapidities from 1.7 to 3.2 and the range of transverse kinetic energies from 0.0 to 0.7 GeV are parametrized in terms of the the Blast Wave approximation. The longitudinal and transverse radial expansion parameters and the mean temperature of Λ hyperons after the freeze-out of the nuclear matter are presented. The predictions of the RQMD model with and without mean field potentials are compared to our data. Both variants of RQMD are parameterized in terms of the Blast Wave model and the results of such parameterizations are compared to the experimental ones. It is found that inclusion of the mean field potentials in RQMD is essential to account for the strong expansion observed in the data.

Coulomb Effects in Charged Particle Spectra from Heavy Ion Collisions at AGS and SIS ∗

Data from the AGS experiment E866 on charged particles emitted in central Au+Au collisions at 10.8 AGeV incident energy is reviewed. The study of spectral shapes indicates the presence of collective transverse flow and – in particular for charged pions – of Coulomb final state interaction between emitted particles and the nuclear charge distribution. The comparison to SIS pion data measured wit...

Ω, J/ψ and ψ′ Production in Nuclear Collisions and Quark Gluon Plasma Hadronization

The transverse mass spectra of Ω, J/ψ and ψ in Pb+Pb collisions at 158 A·GeV are studied within a hydrodynamical model of the quark gluon plasma expansion and hadronization. The model reproduces the existing data with the common hadronization parameters: temperature T = Tc ∼= 170 MeV and average collective transverse velocity vT ∼= 0.2. The possibility of observing the quark gluon plasma (QGP) ...

Collective expansion in central Au+Au collisions.

Energy spectra for intermediate mass fragments produced in central Au + Au collisions at E/A = 100 MeV indicate a collective expansion at breakup. For the first time, values for this collective expansion energy per nucleon are extracted independently for each charge. Typically, these values are one-third to one-half of the incident kinetic energy per nucleon in the c.m. system, but they decreas...

Heavy Flavor Production at PHENIX at RHIC

A study of heavy flavor production in different collision systems in various kinematic regions presents an opportunity to probe cold nuclear medium and hot dense matter effects. Results from the PHENIX experiment on J/ψ and open charm production in Au+Au and Cu+Cu collisions at sNN =200 GeV are presented. The data show strong J/ψ suppression in central AA collisions, similar to NA50 results, an...

Differential Flow of Protons in Au + Au Collisions at AGS Energies

We study the proton sideward and elliptic differential flow for Au+Au collisions at AGS energies (2 – 8 A·GeV) in a microscopic relativistic transport model that includes all baryon resonances up to a mass of 2 GeV as well as string degrees of freedom for the higher hadronic excitations. In order to explore the sensitivity of the various differential flows to the nuclear equation of state (EoS)...
